Changing a Bad day into a GREAT Day!

Much too often as we go through our day we forget our happiness is up to us.  When the guy following too close behind you as you are driving isn’t paying attention because he is caught up in a conversation on his cell phone that he shouldn’t even be on in the first place because he is driving, smashes into you causing you to be late to a job interview that you were already late for, it is so easy to get into a mindset of ‘having a bad day’ which in turn makes for a negative attitude and a somewhat sour attitude as we continue to have things happen ensuring our mood to progressively get worse.  This is when we have to remember it is up to us to have a good day or a bad day.  It is up to us to choose to go through our challenges through the day with a negative or a positive attitude.  What I have realized through the years is when I have a negative attitude then my negative attitude is going to bring more negative situations to me.  If I have an experience like the guy crashing into my car making me late for an interview, I have realized it is imperative I make light of this situation by finding the humor in it.  It is important to smile even though it seems there is nothing to smile about in this situation.  When I find the humor and take a minute to tell myself, “It could be worse”, then move on to thinking of more delightful things, like a walk by the shore or taking time out to just be then the whole mood shifts thus creating positive things to take over for the rest of the day instead of negative things that could continue to happen if I didn’t shift my energy.  Yes! It is challenging to do this in the midst of serious stress but just a little humor will help with this.  Abraham has a quote I Love to read when I am not having such a lovely day.  It reminds me that It is my choice to make my day the way I really would like it to be.  So I encourage you Today… to make this day the best it can be even in the midst of the challenges that may come up!

” Tell everyone you know: “My happiness depends on me, so you’re off the hook.” And then demonstrate it. Be happy, no matter what they’re doing. Practice feeling good, no matter what. And before you know it, you will not give anyone else responsibility for the way you feel — and then, you’ll love them all. Because the only reason you don’t love them, is because you’re using them as your excuse to not feel good.”

—Abraham
